SELF-LOVE: 3 Tips to Love Yourself More

Self-Love. It really is the secret to living a beautiful life. Self-love helps us to drown out the outside noise, the negativity, and the insecurity. When we start to focus from within, we start to see ourselves in a whole new light, and with a whole lot more love.

This past year has been a real journey for me in discovering who I really am, what I really want in life, and loving myself more. 2018 was a very tough year for me personally and I’ll get more into that in another blog post, but I do want to share with you three tips for how you can incorporate more self-love into your own life.

Self-Love Tip #1

Do more of what you love. For me, this meant getting my hands dirty and fulfilling my love of gardening. I live in a townhouse and am unable to create my own in-ground garden due to strata rules but that doesn’t mean I can’t plant and create a beautiful mobile garden!

I love being outside in the fresh air and I especially love being amongst plants and flowers. They’re so beautiful and bring a lot of inspiration for my jewelry creations.

I set out and bought myself some beautiful pots that I’ve set up around my patio and have planted some beautiful arrangements of both perennial and annual favourites. I love large, full hostas, gorgeous peonies, and especially all varieties of roses, so I made sure that I incorporated these into my garden plan. Now everyday when I’m in my jewelry studio I get to look out my windows and see all the gorgeous plants, feel inspired and full of happiness.

Self-Love Tip #2

Set goals and put in the work/action to achieve them. It seems so simple to set a goal and then achieve it, but it is the work and action that are the key players in this scenario. Taking action and putting in the energy to actually achieve your goals is often the missing link.

Think about New Year’s resolutions. How many of us actually take the time to put in the energy for the entire year? Not many. Most of us set the goal, put in a few weeks of action and energy towards achieving the goal, but we don’t often continue. We often procrastinate and make up excuses as to why we should put off achieving our goals – such as putting it off until the next day, watching TV, and so on. I was always in this category.

Procrastination was my middle name and I did it better than anyone. But I have learned that this was my way of self-sabotaging my success in life. I didn’t think that I was worthy of the success that I really wanted to achieve and that I didn’t deserve it. Well, I recently learned that I was wrong and that I in fact DO deserve to create and find my successes, and I no longer procrastinate anywhere in life.

Instead, I write down my goals, break them down into chunks that are achievable, and then watch myself achieve what I’ve set out to do. It really is that simple. But most of all it feels amazing to achieve my goals and I know it will feel incredible for you too. Accomplishing your daily to-do list can feel this way too and I hope you put in the self-love you deserve and start ticking off the things on your goals list (or to-do list) too.

 Self-Love Tip #3

Surround yourself with people that love you back. This is so important. Don’t let someone else’s negativity, bad energy, and lack of respect get you down. Look out for the people in your life who support you, encourage you and straight up love you. These are the people you need to be spending your time with and energy on.

Let go of all of the relationships that don’t feed your soul with love and happiness. Those toxic relationships are no longer needed in your life! Instead, spend more time with yourself, find out what you love and what you really want in life. Then fill up your hours, days, weeks, and life with people that bring you joy, fill up your love tank (got that one from RHOOC!!), and start living your life for YOU!
